Reflecting Egret, 36 x 52 inches

In this painting I try to capture the arresting starkness of a gleaming white shorebird against its watery background while at the same time trying to create a cohesive unity by blurring the edges, allowing the bird and water to share and reflect their strokes of color. The image of the egret has a spiritual symbolism that is endlessly provocative to me as a subject.
